In the University of Michigan Wood Bat Collegiate Showcase, Tide Baseball defeated Toronto, Canada 14-5 in the championship.
This has been the ultimate achievement as all 12 players made contributions throughout. The Tide program avenged their loses and played their best baseball of 2018 to end the year.
Sean Runkel came into the game and threw 6 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball as the Tide bats came alive. Jackson strong homered for the 2nd consecutive game and multiple players had 2 hits a piece.
The PastTime tournament director (Raleigh) commended the Tide players for respecting the game, opponent, and umpires throughout.
Jackson Strong was named tournament MVP and the team and Jackson will be posted on the PastTime twitter account.
This wraps up the 2018 season for the Tide. This season started 12 months ago almost to the day. Fall practice and drills, winter 5:30 a.m practices, many community service events and giving back to WNY, countless road trips, forming of two programs and 25 players coming together. The program suffered crushing defeats on last minute walkoffs and was so close on countless showcases of advancing. To have the 12 members of Tide Baseball, all the family members who contributed, the sponsors, and everyone in between, this moment was the ultimate icing on the cake as these boys worked hard to become better young men and champions. As the saying for the University goes “those who stay will become Champions” and the Tide Baseball program witnessed that first hand.
For the last time of 2018......GO TIDE!!!!!!
